Head Start:  Students are prioritized based on need, taking into account family household income, foster care placement, transitional housing, and needs for specialized academic support.  Applications are open to all children living in Ascension Parish that will be 3 or 4 years old by September 30th of the school year for which they are applying.  (9/30/19).  Transportation is provided for children living within the school site attendance zone.

Public School Site Based PK4 Programs:  Applications are open to all children living in Ascension Parish that will be 4 years old by September 30th of the school year for which they are applying. (9/30/19).  To qualify for these programs, children must meet income requirements or have an IEP.  Families who meet the 200% federal poverty guidelines, receive SNAP (food stamps), are homeless, are unemployed, or children who are in foster care qualify for these programs.  Children living in the school attendance zone are given priority at each site and provided transportation.    Any remaining seats are filled from those qualifying students in other Ascension Parish school attendance zones.

Non-Public Child Care Centers:  

Childcare Assistance Funding (CCAP) provides tuition assistance to families for children ages birth to four.  CCAP eligibility is determined  by household income.  If your child does not qualify for any of the school based programs, you may choose to enroll your child in one of our many licensed child care centers that accepts funding through CCAP.
